Metro Chicago Transit Benefit Program

Based on a recent revision of federal tax law designed to encourage the use of transit, the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) and the Chicago Transit Authority joined together to offer a new Transit Benefit Program.  The program allows employees of participating companies to realize tax savings by ordering CTA Transit Cards and RTA Transit Checks using pre-tax earnings to pay for them.  Participating employers will, in turn, realize reduced payroll taxes and save as much as $70 per employee, per year.

Under the new law, companies can choose any level of subsidization, from full to partial to none at all.  Even if a company contributes nothing, the costs savings for transit-using employees could be as much as $200 to $300 annually.  For more information about the RTA/CTA Transit Benefit Program, call the Transit Benefit Hotline at 312-396-8450 or see "RTA and CTA Agree to Market Transit Benefit Program".
